What is the Kabbalistic Tree of Life?
The Kabbalistic Tree of Life (Etz Chayyim) is the central symbol of Kabbalah — the Jewish mystical tradition dating back to antiquity. It is simultaneously a map of the universe and the human soul: it shows how divine energy descends from its purest, most abstract form into the material world — and how a human being can ascend that path in reverse.
The Tree of Life consists of 10 Sephiroth and 22 paths connecting them. The 22 paths correspond to the 22 letters of the Hebrew alphabet and the 22 Major Arcana of the Tarot.
The 10 Sephiroth
From Kether (Crown — the first spark of divinity, pure being) to Malkuth (Kingdom — the material world, the body, tangible reality) — each Sephira represents a distinct quality of consciousness and a station on the path between the divine and the human.
Kabbalah and personal development
In applied Kabbalah the Sephiroth are often seen as inner qualities to be developed. Reaching Tiphereth (the higher self) means opening the heart. Kether represents the moment of absolute stillness and unity beyond the ego.
On UmbraLux Kabbalah is analyzed as a personality system with a focus on personal Sephira and the Tree of Life path.
