High Sensitivity: More Than a Trend
High sensitivity — known in psychology as the Highly Sensitive Person (HSP) trait — is not a disorder or weakness, but an innate characteristic of the nervous system. About 15–20% of all people process sensory stimuli, social signals and emotional impressions more deeply and intensely than average. This leads to great empathy, creative potential and deep experience — but also to rapid overstimulation, exhaustion and the feeling of being "too much."
High Sensitivity and Human Design
In Human Design, highly sensitive people often find themselves in certain types and configurations: Projectors (whose selectively absorbing aura type makes them naturally very receptive to others` energy), people with many open (white) centers in the body graph, and those with an undefined emotional solar plexus.
High Sensitivity and Astrology
In astrology, certain planets, signs and houses are classically associated with high sensitivity: Pisces and Neptune (the classic sensitive sign), Cancer and the Moon (emotional depth), the Moon in sensitive houses (4th, 8th, 12th), and strong Chiron aspects.
High Sensitivity and the Enneagram
In the Enneagram, certain types tend more strongly toward highly sensitive perception: Type 4 (classic inner intensity and depth of feeling), Type 2 (high empathy for others` needs), and Type 6 (strong inner alarm system that recognizes threats early).
Managing High Sensitivity in Daily Life
Managing high sensitivity does not mean suppressing it — but understanding and directing it. Key strategies: conscious stimulus reduction; recovery rituals (silence, nature, creative expression); clear boundaries; and knowing your own rhythm.
Frequently Asked Questions about High Sensitivity
Is high sensitivity the same as introversion?
No — though there is overlap. About 30% of all highly sensitive people are extroverted. The difference: introversion describes where you recharge energy; high sensitivity describes how intensely stimuli are processed.
Can high sensitivity be "overcome"?
High sensitivity is not a problem to be overcome — it is a trait. What can be developed is conscious engagement with it: self-knowledge, boundaries, self-care.
