How the daily card works

The daily card is one of the simplest ways to work with tarot: you draw one card in the morning and take its theme with you as a focus for the day. In tarot tradition this is not about prediction but about a point of view: where do you meet the card's theme today, what strikes you about it?

Which card you get is chance. We shuffle all 78 cards with your browser's random generator, so every card is equally likely. Unlike our calculators and our sky calendar, the daily card calculates nothing. We draw upright cards only; each card's shadow side is shown all the same.

The texts come from the UmbraLux tarot library, which you also find in the app. Only your browser remembers which card you drew, until the next day; it is not sent to us.

Daily card or birth card?

You draw the daily card anew every day. Your tarot birth cards, in contrast, are calculated from your date of birth with Mary K. Greer's method: the personality and soul cards stay the same for life, the year card changes every year.

Questions about the daily tarot card

Is the daily tarot card free?

Yes. You draw without signing up and without paying, one card a day from all 78 cards.

How often can I draw a daily card?

Once a day, as the daily card is meant in tarot tradition. Your browser remembers the card until the next day. If you clear its data or use a private window, you can draw again.

Does the daily card predict the future?

No. Which card you draw is chance. In tarot tradition it serves as food for thought: an image and a theme to carry through the day.

Is there a yes or no tarot here?

No. A yes or no tarot promises answers to questions only the future answers, and a drawn card cannot do that. The daily card gives you a theme for the day instead.

Are reversed cards drawn too?

No, we draw upright cards only. For every card we also show its shadow side from our library.

How is it different from the tarot birth card?

The daily card is a new card drawn by chance every day. Your birth cards are calculated from your date of birth and always belong to the Major Arcana: the personality and soul cards stay the same, the year card changes every year.
