Ancient wisdom,
carefully calculated.
UmbraLux takes ancient teachings seriously without passing them off as science: carefully calculated, honestly labelled and in words that help you in everyday life.
What's behind
UmbraLux.
UmbraLux isn't a belief but a tool for self-reflection: ancient symbol systems, carefully calculated and explained in plain words.
Clear structures
Many ancient systems are strictly built: the I Ching combines two kinds of lines into 64 hexagrams – on the same principle as a six-digit binary code, as Leibniz already pointed out.
Astronomical calculation
The app calculates the planetary positions with astronomy-engine, an open-source astronomy library, and Chiron from the orbit data of NASA's JPL. How exact the result is depends mostly on how exactly you know your birth time.
Psychological depth
The interpretations draw on images that C.G. Jung described as archetypes – as a language for self-reflection, not as a diagnosis.
Calculated where possible.
Labelled where not.
UmbraLux isn't an ordinary horoscope tool. The app combines ancient symbol systems with astronomical calculation and tells you where a result is only derived symbolically.
Calculated for your birthplace
Sun, Moon and planets are calculated for the moment and place of your birth – with Ascendant and houses if you know your birth time.
Fixed calculation rules
Numerology, the Maya calendar and BaZi follow fixed calculation rules: the same birth data always gives the same result.
Honestly labelled
Not every system can be calculated exactly from birth data. Where the app only derives a result symbolically, such as the Enneagram or the chronotype, it says so.
