What is the BaZi Day Master?

In BaZi — the Chinese Four Pillars chart — the birth chart is built from four pillars: year, month, day, and hour. Each pillar consists of a Heavenly Stem and an Earthly Branch.

The Day Master is the Heavenly Stem of the day pillar. It is the most important single point in the entire chart because it represents you — your core essence, your base energy, your way of experiencing the world.

There are 10 Heavenly Stems, giving 10 possible Day Masters — 5 elements each in a Yin and Yang expression.

The 10 Day Masters

From Jia (Yang Wood — the tall tree, upright and ambitious) to Gui (Yin Water — rain and dew, intuitive and spiritually deep) — each Day Master describes a fundamentally different core nature and way of engaging with the world.

Why the Day Master alone is not enough

The Day Master shows the basic nature, but the full BaZi picture only emerges through the interaction of all four pillars.
