What is Human Design Authority?

In Human Design, the Authority describes the inner decision-making mechanism – the part of the body system you can trust when making important choices. Human Design assumes that as a society we've learned to decide primarily through the mind. But this often leads to exhaustion, wrong decisions, and the feeling of not living authentically.

Authority is not a technique but a deeply physical signal. Depending on type and chart, it arises from a different center – and the training consists in distinguishing this signal from thoughts, expectations, and external influences.

The seven Human Design Authorities

• Sacral Authority: Only for Generators and Manifesting Generators. The spontaneous "Uh-huh" or "Mm-mm" of the Sacral center is the answer.
• Emotional Authority: For people with a defined Emotional center. Decisions mature over time. Never decide in an emotional high or low – wait until the wave subsides.
• Splenic Authority: A quiet, instinctive "now" in the moment. It doesn't return. Must be heard immediately, or it's gone.
• Self-Projected Authority: Only for Projectors. Decisions emerge while speaking aloud – you hear your truth in your own words.
• Mental / Outer Authority: No inner authority – decisions ripen through conversations with trusted people who listen well.
• Lunar Authority: Only for Reflectors. Decisions need a complete lunar cycle (28 days).
• Ego Authority: Rare form – decisions arise from what you truly want and are willing to do.
