40. Deliverance
Hsieh (Deliverance) shows thunder breaking out of the rain. A thunderstorm that drives away the sultry air. The tension discharges, the air is clear again. It is the sigh of relief after the crisis. It is a time when shackles are broken. 'Hsieh' means release – from problems, from debts, from resentment. Forgiveness is the key: Forgive others and yourself in order to be truly free. When the door is open, walk through! Don't hesitate.
Deliverance. The southwest is beneficial. When there is nowhere left that one would have to go, returning brings good fortune. When there is still somewhere one must go, swiftness brings good fortune. When nothing is left to do, rest is good. When something still needs doing, do it quickly.
New Beginning
Hsieh is the reset button. After the rain, the sun shines brighter than ever before.
Operative Resources
Forgiveness. The radical decision to no longer let the past determine the present.
System Blocks
Resentment – Holding on to old wounds, which prevents healing.
System-Hacks
Let it go.
- Forgive: Write a letter to someone who hurt you (and then burn it).
- Debt-Free: Pay an outstanding bill or settle an emotional debt.
Image
Thunder and rain arrive: the image of Deliverance. So the noble one forgives mistakes and remits guilt.
Shadow Challenge
Shadow: Holding grudges – Living in the past and rehashing old stories. Cultivating 'being the victim'.
Strategy
Forgive and forget. Wipe the slate clean. Take care of things immediately and then return to rest. Use the momentum of deliverance.
The Lines
- Beginning: Sigh of Relief (Calm)Without fault. Deliverance begins. First, just take a deep breath. All is well. Don't worry.
- Level 2: Cleansing (Purge)One brings down three foxes in the field and obtains a yellow arrow. Persistence brings good fortune. You get rid of false friends or flatterers. Actively clearing out your surroundings.
- Level 3: Haughtiness (Warning)If someone carries burdens and yet rides on a wagon, he attracts robbers. Persistence leads to shame. You pretend to be something you are not. The imposture is exposed.
- Level 4: Cut (Separation)Free yourself from your big toe. Then the companion comes. Break away from unworthy dependencies (false friends); then the right ones come.
- Level 5: Sovereignty (Inner Freedom)The noble one frees himself; that brings good fortune. He proves it to petty people through his earnestness. Inwardly you let go completely. That convinces even the doubters.
- Conclusion: Victory (Triumph)The prince shoots at a hawk perched on a high wall. He hits it. Everything is beneficial. A last, high obstacle is removed. The final breakthrough.
