What are Human Design profiles?

In Human Design every profile consists of two numbers between 1 and 6, derived from the 6 lines of the I Ching. The first number comes from your conscious personality (Sun), the second from your unconscious imprint (~88 solar days before birth).

Profiles do not describe strengths and weaknesses in the classical sense — they describe how you walk your life path and what role you play for others.

The 6 lines and their core characters

• Line 1 – The Investigator: Needs solid foundation and thorough knowledge before feeling secure.
• Line 2 – The Hermit: Has natural talents they themselves cannot see. Needs alone time but gets called out by others.
• Line 3 – The Martyr: Learns through trial and error — experiences that often appear as mistakes. Brings valuable knowledge about what does not work.
• Line 4 – The Opportunist: Works through networks and friendships. Has large influence in their personal sphere.
• Line 5 – The Heretic: Carries strong projective energy. Others see them as problem solvers — whether they want it or not.
• Line 6 – The Role Model: Lives in three phases: trial (0–30), withdraw and observe (30–50), standing on the roof as a role model (after 50).

How to use your profile

The profile gives you a framework for understanding why your life path looks the way it does. If you are profile 3/5, "mistakes" and detours are not signs of failure — they are your path to authentic wisdom.
