Life Path Number Calculator

Your life path number is the sum of your birth date in numerology, reduced to one digit or a master number (11, 22, 33). The calculator reduces day, month and year on their own first, as Hans Decoz teaches and as the UmbraLux app calculates, and shows every step.

How the life path number is calculated

Pythagorean numerology, in three steps:

  1. 1

Reduce day, month and year on their own

Add the digits of each part until one digit is left. If a sum on the way is 11, 22 or 33, it stays: these master numbers are not reduced.

  2. 2

    Add the three results

Add the reduced day, month and year.

  3. 3

    Reduce the sum

Add the digits of the sum until one digit is left, unless the sum is 11, 22 or 33. That is your life path number.

Two examples

15 May 1990: day 15 → 6, month 5, year 1990 → 19 → 10 → 1. Then 6 + 5 + 1 = 12, and 12 → 3: life path 3.

29 April 1985: the day gives 29 → 11, a master number, which stays; month 4, year 1985 → 23 → 5. Then 11 + 4 + 5 = 20, and 20 → 2: life path 2. Adding all digits at once (2+9+0+4+1+9+8+5 = 38 → 11) would give 11 here, which is why calculators disagree on such dates.

What the life path number means in numerology

Numerology reads the life path as the theme of your life: the talents you bring and the lessons you meet. It comes from the date alone; the other core numbers (expression, soul urge, personality) come from your name.

Questions about the life path number

Why do calculators give different life path numbers?

Because there are two ways to add. Reducing day, month and year on their own first, as Hans Decoz teaches, keeps master numbers that appear in a part. Adding all digits at once often reaches a different sum and can end on another number, as 29 April 1985 shows: 2 this way, 11 the other.

What are master numbers?

The numbers 11, 22 and 33. Numerology does not reduce them to 2, 4 and 6 but reads them as numbers of their own; the calculator keeps them wherever they appear.

Do I need my birth time or my name?

No, the life path number comes from the date alone. Your name gives the other core numbers (expression, soul urge, personality).

Is my data stored?

No. The calculation runs in your browser; your date is neither sent nor stored. Only your device remembers your last entry, and you can delete it below the form.
