Numerology Calculator

Numerology reads numbers from your date of birth and your name: the life path from the date, the destiny number, heart's desire and personality from the letters of your name. The calculator counts with the Pythagorean system, as the UmbraLux app does, and shows every letter with its value.

Date of birth

As on your birth certificate: numerology counts the letters.

The calculation runs in your browser. Your birth data is neither sent nor stored; only this device remembers your last entry.

How the numbers are calculated

The calculator counts like the UmbraLux app, in five steps:

  1. 1

    Count the letters

    Each letter has a value from 1 to 9 (A, J, S = 1; B, K, T = 2; and so on to I, R = 9). German umlauts count spelled out (Ä as AE, ß as SS), accents drop away.

  2. 2

    Add them up

All letters give the destiny number, the vowels (A, E, I, O, U and Y) the heart's desire, the consonants the personality.

  3. 3

    Reduce

Each sum is reduced to its digit sum until one digit is left; 11, 22 and 33 stay as master numbers.

  4. 4

    From the date

The life path comes from day, month and year, each reduced and then added; the birthday number from the day; the maturity number from life path plus destiny; the personal year from day, month and the calendar year.

  5. 5

    The Pythagoras square

The digits of the date of birth (without zeros) are counted and set into a square from 1 to 9.

Example: Maria Weber, born 15 May 1990

The letters: M 4, A 1, R 9, I 9, A 1, W 5, E 5, B 2, E 5, R 9. Together 50 → 5 + 0 = 5: destiny number 5. The vowels A, I, A, E, E: 21 → 2 + 1 = 3, heart's desire 3. The consonants: 29 → 2 + 9 = 11, personality 11.

From the date: life path 3, birthday number 6, maturity number 3 + 5 = 8, personal year 2026: 3.

Which name counts?

The calculator counts your first name and your family name at birth, as the UmbraLux app does. A later name, after a marriage for instance, gives other name numbers; numerology reads it as a layer added to the name you were born with.

Questions about numerology

Which name should I enter?

Your first name and your family name at birth, as the UmbraLux app counts them. A later name gives other name numbers.

Does Y count as a vowel?

Here, yes: the calculator counts A, E, I, O, U and Y as vowels, as the UmbraLux app does. Some numerologists count Y as a vowel only where it sounds like one.

What are master numbers?

11, 22 and 33 are not reduced further when a sum reaches them. Numerology reads them as heightened forms of 2, 4 and 6.

What are karmic debts and karmic lessons?

As karmic debts the calculator counts 13, 14, 16 and 19 where they turn up on the way to a core number, as Hans Decoz does: as your birthday, or as a sum on the way to your life path (6 + 5 + 3 = 14 → 5) or to the numbers of your name (49 → 13 → 4). Karmic lessons are the numbers from 1 to 9 missing from the letters of your name.

Is my data stored?

No. The calculation runs in your browser; your name and date are neither sent nor stored. Only your device remembers your last entry, and you can delete it below the form.
