31. Influence

Hsien (Influence) shows the lake on the mountain. Two forces attract each other magnetically. This is the sign of attraction, of falling in love, and of customer acquisition. It describes the moment when the spark jumps across. The teaching: You have to be 'empty' (open) to attract something. A full pot cannot take anything in. Attraction happens spontaneously through resonance, not through force ('push marketing' vs. 'pull marketing').

AttractionResonance

Influence. Success. Persistence is beneficial. Entering into a union brings good fortune.

Magnetism

Hsien explains how influence really works: Not through pressure, but through pull (attraction).

Operative Resources

Empathy. The ability to sense intuitively what the other person needs.

System Blocks

Being closed off – Those who are full of themselves cannot receive anything new.

System-Hacks

Attract.

  • Listening: Listen to someone today without interrupting (active listening).
  • Openness: Say 'yes' to a suggestion you would normally turn down.

Image

On the mountain is a lake: the image of Influence. So the noble one receives people through emptiness (openness).

Shadow Challenge

Shadow: Moodiness – Giving in to every stimulus immediately (stimulus-response automatism). Superficiality.

Strategy

Make yourself receptive. Send out the signals you want to receive (Law of Attraction). Pay attention to WHAT attracts you, because it shapes your path.

The Lines

  • Beginning: Hunch (Impulse)Influence makes itself felt in the big toe. A small, first impulse. Not yet action, only an inkling.
  • Level 2: Waiting (Impatience)Influence makes itself felt in the calves. Misfortune. One wants to run but should wait. Reacting too quickly to stimuli.
  • Level 3: Follower (Dependency)Influence makes itself felt in the thighs. Holding fast to what follows. Shame. One chases after every trend. No center of one's own.
  • Level 4: Focus (Realization)Persistence brings good fortune. Regret vanishes. If one's thinking wavers back and forth, only the friends toward whom one directs one's thoughts will follow. Clear intention attracts.
  • Level 5: Neck (Neutral)Influence makes itself felt in the nape of the neck. No regret. The influence is superficial or stiff. No deep contact.
  • Conclusion: Idle Talk (Superficiality)Influence makes itself felt in the jaws, cheeks and tongue. One talks a lot about feelings or plans, but there is nothing behind it.
